My 1st Cold Processed soap - it curdled!

Salam,

i have finally made my first cold processed soap!
 =)
using the milk carton as my mould

the soap did not turn out right though..
i couldnt find coconut oil so instead of using water i used coconut milk instead..
so, it was palm+olive+castor+butter+lye+coconut milk (CM).

i know, i should not have started with milk but i thought i could
and so i ended up with curdled CM in my soap.

not forgetting the fact that i did not melt my butter 100%. maybe just around 80% or so.

i've taken pictures.

have a look-see and if you're reading this, maybe can tell me what went wrong..

the brown swirling was from cocoa powder.
it was only visible from the top though since i used a tall mold instead of a longer mold.
or maybe there's a way and i dont know how yet.

the is the bar cut from the top.
cocoa powder all over the place, by the sides and centre.
=)

cocoa powder for second bar, still visible here

Cold Process Soap

less here..

Cold Process Soap curdled

this one has no visible cocoa at all.
 only the hardened curdled CM.

i assume that it was the heat of the lye+CM because i did not freeze it.
the CM was at room temperature..
=)

i will still wait for 4 weeks and see if it will cure okay.

then i will USE it!

come on, i wouldnt want to waste all my oils (castor included!!)
and my yummy milk now right?

m going to have another go at this!!

wish me luck!!

The Start of a New Project!!

Salam,

in the excitement of the accident that happened on Sunday..

i forgot to mention that i have..

finally..

bought some main materials to do my soap.

i have bought a digital scale and a hand mixer.

yes, this is an achievement!
since i have been postponing it for soo sooo soooo long!

i didnt want to spend all 300++ Ringgit on a stick blender just yet
so m hoping that this hand mixer would do the work just fine.

i dont know how long it will take me to reach trace
since i havent used it yet
but maybe not as long as using a normal whisk!

so, a hand mixer it is!!

i need to have some protection for my eyes and skin so what else do i need?

hmmm...

maybe i can just clingwrap my head where the eyes are,
wear my headscarf, put on my glasses and wear long sleeves..

what else?

just need to get a plastic apron.

well, it is safer since i'm going to handle a nasty chemical.

=)

maybe i can finally start this weekend!!

=)
=)

i cant wait!!

Lost Control!!

Salam,

it's been 4 days since I crashed my car into a tembok.

Alhamdulillah nothing happened to us (me and hubby) physically.

the car was bad on only one side, passenger's side,
where my hubby was sitting.

yes, i was the driver.  =)

whaaaaat??!

yeah, i lost control of the steering.
it just didnt want to listen to my hands.

no, i dont think i was going too fast at the corner.
it had been raining earlier and the road was wet.

anything was possible..

so let me start from the beginning..

ya ya dont get bored just yet.
i havent even started..

...

i remember looking behind (through the main mirror)
takkan la i turn my head all the way back and looked behind, lagi teruk la kalau macam tu
and i saw a bus about the time i took the left turn.

i was turning the steering when we reached the corner.
(tengok depan nampak jalan LDP tu jem teruk)

when i looked again, we were too close to the left side almost near the tembok dah
(here, i felt the steering wheel had turned left-more left than i had planned)

so i steered it back to the right but it did not budge,
(or at least that's what i felt)
and it turned to the left again.

and so we hit the left-side rock-hard divider!

the impact made the car turn 360 degrees
and i cant recall how many times it circled
(i thought it was just once but judging from where we hit the tembok
and where we end up,
it must have been more than once!!)

in my head..
"WHY CANT IT JUST STOP??"

the next thing i remember was, i pressed the brake sooooooo hard
and the car stopped just nicely before the right side rock-hard divider.

i think the car actually stopped because at about that same time,
my husband remembered to pull the hand brake up.
otherwise, the car would hit the other divider and
the front-right of the car would be damaged as well,
and me!!

ALHAMDULILLAH!!

a great lesson learned that day!!

dont drive too fast
(even if i wasnt, really!!!)
at a corner,
when it rains or after it had rained.

what i experienced did not feel like hydroplanning
more like "you need to service your car and make sure the power steering is okay"
before you start driving.

the car was due for service anyway.

well, the car is at the workshop now.

i am car-less.

but i have my mom & my dad to drive me to work.
yes, i am still dimanjakan at this age..
=)
well, actually, they are still working and can drop me off to work on their way..
but, its nicer to think that i am being pampered still..

Cant Wait!!

Salam,

i've been controlling the urge to read Game of Thrones.
and i dont think i can control it much longer.

its not just the story
(from what i've seen on HBO, the story is really interesting!!)
but its also
...

the read

...

the feeling of being transported in..
being one with the book..
as if you are IN the story.

invisible yes,
no  one can see you or feel your presence
but you're in there, with them..

..sighing with a smile..

feeling what they feel (almost)
imagining what they are doing when you read each and every word..

i cant explain the feeling..
its just soooooo out of this world wow!!

....
i do have a problem when i read though..
 ....

i have difficulty stopping..
.....

yes, its hard for me to stop once i start.
if i can hold, i'll hold for as long as i can
if i can eat while reading, i'll do that,
if i can go to the loo and still read, i 'll do that.

seriously.

it has been a really long while after my last read.
i think the last book was a romance
and it was beautiful

..sighing with a smile..

man meets woman
or woman meets man
fall in love
face trouble(s)
and overcome them
and finally
be together
happy
ever after..

..sighing with a smile..

yes, a typical romance book
but the experience and the adventure they shared was wonderful.
still is..

m not saying all authors/books are good
because some of the romance books i read are not nice.

but the great ones are just beautiful..

..sighing with a smile..

i can almost feel

the sadness,
the torture (heart-feelings) of separation,
heartbreak,

and of course

the love..

..sighing with a smile..

oh i cant wait to start!

i know this isnt the same as a romance
but its going to be an interesting read still..

yes m all smiles now..
=)
i'll probably start reading a tiny bit tonight

and if i can help it..

STOP!!

and continue again tomorrow!

..sighing with a smile..

Chao!!
=)

Let's Get the Ball Rolling!!

Salam,

i know i dont have a list of readers here in this blog.

just a lucky one for now
(yes Ma'am IEDA, you are lucky that I'm mentioning you in my almost nonexistent blog)

but let's say i do, one day,
then i'm listing out 2 of many items that i wish to have...

right now,
it's just a hand mixer and
a digital weighing machine (1g/0.1g)
a stainless steel one if possible.

yes, i would need those to start my soap-making project.

my current interest.

....

i dont have a hand mixer.

we have a whisk but its for food, not for soap.

i have a mixer, not a hand mixer.
its a fixed one, also used for food.

we have a smaller mixer, also for food.

we also have a weighing scale
but its not digital.
and i dont know how accurate it is anyway.

so there it is, only two things.

if i were to actually list out what i want (materials) here,
it will be a modest list.

not too long but not too short either.
=)

Chao!!

Guess What? =)

Salam,

i dont think i can ever be a good blogger..

i find reading other blogs so much more interesting than mine..

so i blog less..

:)

by the way...
i got a new book today after such a long long long long (you get the picture) time
buying one, even reading one!!

i love reading, romance books but fictional are as great!

i cant read motivational stuff. i dont find it interesting.

i love romance books because i love happily ever after endings.
its just so so so so sweet and fulfilling.

i look forward to that... in the next life..
perhaps one day i can make myself worthy enough for heaven, InsyaAllah.
am taking baby steps now..  =)

ok, sambung cerita..
one of my superiors bought it for me.
he said something like..."after all the work I've done for the company."

it's basically a token of appreciation that I really really really appreciate..

thank you boss!!

best best!!

want to know what book this is?

drum roll please...

jeng.. jeng..jeng..

yes, yes, i was going to tell you anyway..

it's the first out of 5 books of George R.R. Martin!!

1st of 5 of "A Song of Ice & Fire."!!

"Game of Thrones!!!!!"

i watched the series on HBO, on Astro and it is so so so so so interesting.

i cant help being "over" today.

yes, everything is just more.
more than just plain.
it's a good day, not that other days arent good
but today is another one of those good days.
as good as it gets of course.
 and right now, its good!!

=)

yes i'm all smiles today..
minus some hiccups..

the first set of series is great!
therefore,  i'm greatly assuming that the book is much much much better.

i finished only the prologue..
i hope to get 'so engrossed with the book that i dont do anything else' mode soon.

Chao!!

Still Contemplating.....

Salam,

Its been awhile since my last post..

I have not done anything with regards to my soap.. (sad)

maybe i should just buy the hand mixer which is so much cheaper than the stick blender.
just so i could start making soap..

well, its either that or wait till I have money to buy a good quality stick blender
which range from RM 200 - RM 500 a set!
not yet though, i just think i should stick to cheaper materials first
before i invest with the more expensive ones.
yup, i still cant decide..aaaaaargh!!

and dont forget about the scale!
do i need to get one with 0.1 sensitivity or should i just get one that can weigh to 1g only?
the 0.1 sensitivity is expensive okay..

well, other than NOT doing anything about my soap,
i've been reading some soap blogs and their soaps are just so so so beautiful.

yes, I do need to get a dose of soap porn every now and then
when i'm not too busy at work.
it just relaxes me so and yes, stresses me out in some other ways
as i'm itching to make my own, free of harmful radicals..

sigh..
